ICA Youth is our community for teenagers aged 13–19. Every Friday we gather for a youth service where we teach the Bible and grow together in small groups — we call it Friday Night Live, or FNL. Fridays at 6:30 PM, at both West and East.

• Hard questions welcome. We create environments where the gospel meets the realities of modern teenage culture, and no question is off limits.
• Discipleship at the core. Everything runs on relationships between leaders and students, not just programs.
• All year round. Alongside FNL, ICA Youth runs in-service events and programs throughout the calendar year.
• Sundays too. Students are part of the wider church family at our Sunday services.

New students are always welcome — just come along on a Friday, or message us first and we'll look out for you.

A community for young adults finding their footing — in work, in relationships, and in faith. We gather to worship, dig into Scripture, and build the kind of friendships that hold you steady.

Thursdays at 7:00 PM, at both West and East.

• Worship and teaching built for this season of life — career starts, big decisions, and working out what you actually believe.
• Small groups where you are known rather than just present.
• Space to serve. Many of our young adults serve on Sunday teams and lead in ICA Youth.
• Come as you are. No need to know anyone first — turn up and we'll introduce you.

Young Adults sits inside our wider discipleship roadmap: it is a natural place to join a GO Group, discover your gifts, and take a next step.

Beyond sharing your faith and becoming a member, a natural next step in disciple-making is to lead a GO Group.

As a church grows, it becomes easy to attend services and still feel overlooked. Discipleship requires being known — and that happens in a small group focused on mutual growth. Our pastoral staff can only hold so many relationships. The answer is more GO Groups, which means more GO Group leaders.

We are not looking for Bible scholars or teachers. We are looking for facilitators and hosts — people who can:

• Facilitate connection. Focus on connecting people to each other, not on teaching topics. Be present: birthdays, hospital visits, playdates, meals, weekend trips, caring for the sick.
• Facilitate a meeting. Host at your home, a coffee shop, or at ICA. Food is encouraged but not required.
• Facilitate discussion. Use the material we provide and keep the conversation moving — you do not need the answers.
• Facilitate growth. Notice who is growing, who is struggling, and who could lead next.

We provide the material, regular GO Group Leader Training, and a coach who checks in with you. You will be trained before you start and supported the whole way through.

If you are completely new to Christianity — or you have questions you have never felt free to ask — Alpha is the place to start.

Alpha is a twelve-session course exploring life and the Christian faith in an open, informal environment. Everyone is welcome, but it is designed especially for people who don't identify as Christians or as church-goers.

It mirrors the pattern we see all through the New Testament: Andrew bringing Peter, Philip bringing Nathaniel, Matthew throwing a party for his friends. It is an easy invitation to come and see.

• Real. We present the reality of Jesus with authentic leaders, and guests can ask anything with no pressure.
• Relational. The friendships formed on Alpha often last for years.
• Reliant. We depend on the Holy Spirit. God alone changes lives — we simply introduce Him.

1. Food. Most good things happen around a table. We eat together first.
2. A talk. A short talk exploring one big question of the faith.
3. Discussion. The heart of Alpha. Say what you actually think — no question is out of bounds, and nobody will correct you.

• Do I have to believe anything? No. Alpha is designed for people who aren't sure.
• What does it cost? Nothing.
• Do I have to come back? No. Come once and decide from there.
• Do I have to talk? Only if you want to. Listening is completely fine.

This is the best decision you will ever make — and you don't have to figure out what comes next on your own. Here is what we believe happened, and what we'd love to do with you from here.

1. God desires relationship. God created you, knows you and loves you. You are not an accident; you were designed for a purpose, to live in peace and friendship with Him.
2. The problem. The world is full of suffering, pain and brokenness — the result of turning away from God to go our own way. The Bible calls this sin: a wall that separates us from a holy God and breaks human relationships, and one we cannot cross alone.
3. Being good is not enough. God gave us His commandments to show us how to live, but none of us has ever fully lived up to them.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.
Romans 3:23, NLT

For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

God did for us what we could never do for ourselves. Jesus lived the life we could not live and died the death we deserved, then rose again — tearing down the wall and opening the way back into relationship with God. Salvation is received by grace through faith. It is a gift, not a wage.

1. Tell someone. Start by telling us using the form below — it is how we know to walk with you.
2. Start reading. Begin with the Gospel of John. A short daily plan is easier to keep than a big one.
3. Find your people. Join a GO Group. Faith is not meant to be carried alone.
4. Get baptized. When you are ready, declare publicly what God has done in you.

Someone from our team will reach out personally — not to sign you up for anything, but to answer questions and pray with you.

If you have placed your faith in Jesus, the next step is to declare it publicly through baptism.

1. An outward sign of an inward transformation. A public declaration that you have turned from sin and placed your faith in Jesus Christ.
2. A picture of death, burial and resurrection. Immersed in water, your old self is buried with Christ; raised out of the water, you are raised to new life (Romans 6:3–4).
3. One of Jesus' commands (Matthew 28:19).
4. Something Jesus modelled — He was baptized by immersion (Matthew 3:13–16).
5. The practice of the early church — people were baptized immediately after accepting Christ (Acts 2:41, 8:36–38).

ICA baptizes by immersion. The Greek word baptizo means to immerse or dip under water, and immersion is the model we see throughout Scripture. We believe it best pictures death, burial and resurrection with Christ.

Because baptism is a public declaration of personal faith, we don't baptize infants — they are not yet able to make that decision. Instead we dedicate babies to the Lord together with their families. When children are old enough to decide to follow Jesus for themselves, they can be baptized. The timing is up to the individual and their parents.

You must have placed your faith in Jesus Christ. ICA does not baptize solely for legal reasons — we baptize as a statement of genuine faith. That said, ICA baptism certificates are legal documents in Indonesia and are required for Christian marriages.

We run a short baptism class beforehand so you know exactly what to expect on the day.

Here's a simple truth: we are not meant to be alone. God created us for relationships. Jesus established His Church so we can pursue relationships with God together. At ICA Surabaya, the primary way of connecting with others is through Growth and Outreach Groups.

GO Groups are a group of congregation members (ideally 7–12 people) that agree to meet at least once a month — preferably bi-weekly or weekly — to help each other grow and reach other people who are not yet connected to the body of believers. At GO Groups, we have:

• Belonging. GO Groups move you beyond just attending Sunday services to being known, loved, and accepted. It's your family in Christ.
• Growth. GO Groups are a safe, honest environment to share your struggles while also being challenged to grow more mature as a follower of Christ.
• Outreach. GO Groups extend the blessing of connection to those who have no spiritual family. GO Groups exist to provide belonging to all God's people.

Every family expects its members to contribute — and that is a healthy expectation of the church too. If you have been attending and connecting, the next step is to use your gifts to serve others.

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

God has wired you with unique gifts, passions and experiences. Serving is simply using who God made you to be to bless others. We believe every member of the church is a minister — not only the pastors and evangelists — and that it is our job to equip you for that ministry.

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Jesus, the ultimate example, came not to be served but to serve (Matthew 20:28). The essential qualities are simpler than you'd think — we look for people who are F.A.T.

We have a place for you to use your gifts and passions. These are the teams you can sign up for:

• Hospitality Team: uses the gift of hospitality to welcome, host and engage guests in the lobby and worship hall, creating a positive impression as people enter and exit ICA Surabaya.
• Intercessory Prayer Team: gathers monthly for intercession, and before and after each service, to provide prayer covering for services, the pastoral team, congregants, events and ministries.
• Kids Team: helps children build a genuine relationship with God, establish a biblical foundation, grow alongside friends and leaders, and enjoy their time at church. They welcome families, assist with check-in, drop-off and pick-up, and provide teaching for the children.
• Youth Team: helps middle school and high school students feel welcome and known by creating environments where they connect with God and others. They also provide teaching for students.
• Young Adults Team: helps the young adults leadership team with media, worship, documentation and other ministry duties.
• Worship Team: facilitates a powerful, on-stage worship experience through the skills of vocalists, instrumentalists and audio engineering.
• Creative Media: produces creative content that communicates the message, initiatives and vision of ICA Surabaya through photography, video, content creation and design.
• Service Media: facilitates a powerful, distraction-free worship experience through lighting, video technology, slide operation, service directing and livestreaming.
• Kafe Asa: provides food and beverage for guests who attend services and events at ICA Surabaya, creating a welcoming experience and an environment for fellowship.
• Events Team: creates an excellent, memorable experience by organizing services, meals, gatherings and special events.
• Social Ministry: focuses on our community here in Surabaya and the Youth Development Program. Helps provide counseling and mentoring, and leadership and character development, to youth and university students.
• Missions: participates in various missions initiatives and short-term mission trips across Indonesia — medical, kids, youth, worship, media, pastoral training, women's empowerment and church building.

If the Bible is food because it nourishes our spiritual lives, then prayer is breathing. Whatever you are carrying, you do not have to carry it alone.

Our prayer team would count it a privilege to pray with you. Nothing is too small, and nothing you share goes further than the team.

1. Pick a specific time. Jesus got up very early to spend time with His Father. Make a daily appointment with God and keep it.
2. Pick a specific place. Jesus had a prayer place. Find somewhere undistracted where you can pray out loud, perhaps with worship music in the background.
3. Pick a specific plan. Go in with a plan rather than hoping words arrive.

Start with five minutes. Consistency matters far more than length.

One of the best ways to be fed and to grow spiritually is to read the Bible regularly. If you have never managed to keep it up, the problem is usually not willpower — it is not having a plan.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

2. Find a plan. Open the app, tap the Plans icon, then Find Plans. You can search by topic — Anxiety, Peace, Marriage — or by book of the Bible.
3. Start small. Try First Steps (5–7 days) or The Bible in One Year, which gives you a snapshot in 10–15 minutes a day.

YouVersion's best feature is Plans with Friends. When you start a plan, choose “Start with Friends” and invite your family, a friend, or your GO Group. You can see each other's progress and comment on what God is showing you each day. It is the easiest accountability you will ever set up.

BibleProject produces short animated videos explaining every book of the Bible and its major themes. Watching the video for a book before you read it makes an enormous difference to how much you understand.

God has wired you with a unique combination of gifts, passions and experiences. Knowing what they are turns “I should probably help out somewhere” into a clear and joyful next step.

Serving from your gifting is sustainable; serving against it burns you out. The assessment takes a few minutes, is free, and your results are yours to keep.

1. Take the assessment and note your top gifts.
2. Talk it through with your GO Group leader or one of our pastors.
3. Try something. Gifts are confirmed in practice, not in theory. Serve for a season and notice what comes alive.
4. Come back to it. Gifting becomes clearer over time and across different seasons of life.

Bring your results when you sign up to serve — it helps us place you well rather than simply fill a gap.

Membership is how you move from attending ICA to belonging to it — committing to this church family, and being committed to in return.

• It makes commitment concrete. A general intention to be part of church becomes a specific, mutual commitment to these people.
• It gives you a voice. Members vote at our business meetings on decisions that shape the church's direction.
• It opens the door to leadership. Serving as a Deacon, and most leadership roles, begins with membership.
• It is how we care for you. Knowing who calls ICA home lets our pastoral team genuinely shepherd you.

1. Attend the membership class. We walk through who we are, what we believe, and what membership means on both sides.
2. Meet with a pastor to share your story and ask anything still outstanding.
3. Be inducted during a Sunday service, where the church family welcomes you.

Baptism normally comes before membership. If you have not yet been baptized, start there — we'll happily walk you through both, and the two often happen in the same season.

ICA requires premarital counseling beginning at least 6 months before the wedding date for couples marrying at ICA Surabaya. It is not a hurdle — it is the single most useful gift we can give you at the start.

We use Prepare/Enrich, the global standard for relationship assessment, continually updated with solid research. All married ICA pastoral staff are trained facilitators. The proven method — assessment, discussion, then skill-building — increases relationship satisfaction and reduces divorce risk by 31%.

1. You both take the Prepare/Enrich assessment.
2. A facilitator meets with you 5–7 times to review the findings together.
3. You work through skill-building exercises between sessions.
4. In the final session, we collaborate with you to create your wedding ceremony.
